Located in a peaceful village setting behind Arambol Beach, North Goa, Samata is located 3 kilometers inland from Arambol town. Situated 1.5 hours from Goa airport, the retreat is secluded and quiet.
Rustic yet charming, the accommodation at Samata caters to all budgets. There are 4 single rooms, 6 deluxe king rooms, 6 deluxe twin rooms (for friends who wish to share a room), 2 triple rooms (which house 3 people) and 2 master suites. Modelled in the style of a traditional Indonesian village, each abode is carved from recycled teak wood and have ensuite bathrooms.
The meals served at Samata are geared towards health-aware yogi’s. Harvested from the retreat’s organic garden (which is farmed according to biodynamic principles), fresh herbs and greens can be seen in vibrant salads, while an array of colorful vegetables feature in an array of vegetarian dishes. With a focus on quality organic ingredients and locally sourced foods, the kitchen prepares meals according to Ayurvedic guidelines and principles of food-combining to ensure optimal health and digestion. The retreat caters to a wide range of dietary requirements including gluten-free, vegan, soy-free, lacto-vegetarian, ovo-vegetarian and ovo-lacto vegetarian diets. The evening meal is a traditional Indian ‘Thali’ (a selection of various dishes), comprised of healthy local favourites such as yellow basmati rice, ‘channa masala’ (chickpeas cooked in tomato-based sauce) and ‘palak tofu’ (tofu in spinach sauce). All eggs served are organic and free-range, and all juices are freshly squeezed.
Designed to to improve overall vitality, Samata’s holistic wellness offerings include acupuncture, traditional Tibetan medicine, Ayurveda, Vedic astrology, and a range of therapeutic bodywork, massage and Asian healing arts. Executed by a team of experienced Ayurvedic practitioners, TCM doctors, remedial therapists and ‘holistic clinicians’, treatments span from cranial sacral healings to hot stone massage. The clinic also has an extensive herbal pharmacy from which Tibetan and Ayurvedic herbs are distributed. Samata offers an ‘in-patient’ program for those who’d like to embark on a ‘pancha karma’ (detoxification) programme.
